A minimum of 16 lives perished and more than 40 were hurt when assailants fired on a Hanukah celebration at Bondi Beach, a tragedy Australian police are describing as a act of terrorism.
As of the newest reports, officials have confirmed the number of fatalities remains at 16, including one of the alleged attackers. Additionally, 42 wounded individuals were transported to hospital.
The victims are yet to be officially identified, but police believe their ages are from 10 and 87 years of age.

Reportedly a father of five children, he worked as the associate rabbi at Chabad of Bondi. Family members and friends spoke of him as āvivacious, energetic, full of life and a very warm outgoing person who loved to help peopleā.
āHow is it possible that a happy rabbi who went to a beach to spread happiness and light, to make the world a better place, meet his end in this way?ā a relative said.
Schlanger and his wife had recently celebrated the arrival of their youngest child just a few months ago.

She told the moments leading up to the shooting, saying they were standing when the shooting erupted. āHe pushed his body up because he wished to be near me,ā she recalled.
The pair were both survivors of the Holocaust, having experienced immense hardship in their childhood. They had later relocated to Australia from Ukraine.
The French authorities have announced that French national Dan Elkayam is among the victims.
In a statement, a senior official expressed that France mourned with his family, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
āThis cowardly attack is a new, tragic manifestation of a disgusting rise of antisemitic hatred that we must eradicate,ā the message continued.
A child who was taken to the a children's hospital succumbed to her injuries, authorities stated.
A national of Israel was among those killed in the incident, as per reports citing the Israeli government.
From the 42 people transported to hospitals, many are still under care, with several in critical condition. Those hurt comprise two officers who attended the scene.
One of the injured is a bystander who attempted to intervene to confront one of the attackers. Hailed as a hero, he sustained gunshot wounds but is recovering well in hospital.
One of those wounded is Arsen Ostrovsky, a public affairs professional. It has been reported he was injured and is receiving treatment in hospital.
He wrote, he described the incident as an āhorrific scene,ā but also noted the response of those who rushed to help. He stated he felt it was a āmiracleā he survived.
Evan Zlatkis, a media director, was also injured in the shooting. He said he heard ādozens and dozensā of shots.
