Arne Slot acknowledged that it was expected for questions to be asked about his position following another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.
Liverpool endured their 9th loss in 12 matches, representing the team's worst streak since being relegated in 1953-54.
They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at their home ground.
“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received plenty of backing from above,” the coach commented.
“It's important to turn it around and earn three points obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”
He continued, “I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we turned it around.”
Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach explained:
“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”
He mentioned, “During our regular exchanges I sense the trust. But I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so we'll see.”
The manager lamented recurring weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.
Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the club’s predicament.
“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones said.
“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”
He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”
“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a spell like this with performances this poor.”
He stated, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”
“We will attempt to bring this squad back to the top, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”
“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
