Recent Particulars Surface Regarding the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Bodies

Fresh particulars have surfaced about the shocking passing of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.

The Alarm

As detailed in an account citing a confidential source, a therapist scheduled for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the residence. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.

Upon entering the home, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then left the home distraught, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. A companion who had accompanied her contacted 911. Subsequently, emergency responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Proceedings

Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, along with the charge related to a weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently in custody and denied bail.

Clarifications

The confidential informant challenged several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that juncture.

The source also pushed back against widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "worried" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement includes reports of alleged "unstable" behavior by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. Although the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they asserted that reports of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.

Ongoing Inquiry Details

According to law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts indicated the state of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, about 15 miles from the scene. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
