Following a hold-up and a remarkably divisive meeting, a national immunization advisory committee was set to cast ballots on Friday regarding a potential change to the longstanding recommendation that every infant be inoculated against hepatitis B.

Heated Debate and a Delayed Ballot

The opening session of the meeting on Thursday was marked by heated debate over limiting availability to the hepatitis B vaccine for babies and a choice to delay the ballot by a day to allow panelists additional time to review the wording.
